IN THE BACKGROUND
Josh and the Big Wall!

Click the video cover to read more about it!

  • Those sheep hanging out with the children of Israel look mighty familiar. One even tips over, just like Dave's sheep in "Dave and the Giant Pickle."

  • Those obnoxious French Peas who taunted the Israelites in "Dave and the Giant Pickle" are back for more! Now that they sit atop the wall, taunting our heroes and throwing things at them, the allusion to the French soldiers from Monty Python and the Holy Grail is even more obvious.

  • After a day of being pummeled with slushies, the Israelites want to give up on God's plan. But Junior convinces them not to! After the peas agree to carry the ark around Jericho, the people aren't the only ones cheering ... so does one of their sheep!

    The Song of the Cebú

  • Larry's slide show during "The Song of the Cebú" is full of familiar faces. But look closely at the picture of Larry at the airport. Part of his luggage next to him is his Larry-Boy helmet!

  • In the same slide, we see Bob sitting on the airport luggage conveyor belt, with a stamp on his head. The stamp has a picture of Bob and Junior Asparagus, and is also stuck to his head on the cover of several new VeggieTales merchandise items from Thomas Nelson Gifts (such as the journal and the address book)!

  • During the slide show, Larry mentions his "Aunt Ruth." She was mentioned by Jerry in "The Gourds Must Be Crazy" ("Are You My Neighbor?") and by Larry in "Love My Lips" ("Dave and the Giant Pickle") - but this is the first time we (sort of) see her. She doesn't have a beard, but appears to have cut herself shaving!

  • Take a look at the sequence of numbers on the edge of the film in the slide of Aunt Ruth (click on the image above to see a bigger version). It's actually a secret code! Translate each number to a letter of the alphabet, with A=1, B=2, L=12, etc. The message reads "Aunt Ruth Lives!" Rumor has it that Mike Nawrocki and the Big Idea animators included the secret message when they saw the "In the Background" section on this web site! It's the ultimate 'In the Background!'

  • As the Silly Song concludes, Larry mistakes a waterbuffalo for a cebú. The reference is to the very first Silly Song with Larry, "The Waterbuffalo Song" ("Where's God When I'm S-Scared?")!
