'Esther' coming to video this fall
VeggieTales' fourteenth video tells
a classic story with a fun twist

by Darren Sumner - May 6, 2000

CHICAGO - With King George and the Ducky now available, the artists at Big Idea are turning their attention to the next video in the VeggieTales series: the story of Queen Esther!

Currently titled "Esther: The Girl Who Became Queen," the video tells the story of Queen Esther, the Jewish servant girl who became queen of Persia. But when Haman, the king's mean henchman, tries to get rid of Esther's cousin Mordecai and the rest of the Jews, it's up to this brave young queen to try and save them.

The VeggieTales version of Esther keeps the story set in ancient Persia, but adds a fun "Casablanca" feel to the sets and costumes.

The cast of "Esther" includes Mr. Nezzer as King Xerxes, Larry the Cucumber as the king's scribe, Mr. Lunt as Haman, Pa Grape as Mordecai, the French Peas as Haman's men, and a brand new character playing the part of Esther - a beautiful young scallion (that's a green onion, like George and Annie).

Read more about the story of Esther in the Bible, in the book of Esther! The VeggieTales version of the story hits the shelves of your local Christian retailer in early fall of this year.
